Notfunny Band Returns: Exclusive Interview Hints at Upcoming EP After ‘Long Days’ Release

Ukhrul: Notfunny Band makes a big splash as they return to the music scene after a two-year hiatus with their latest single, Long Days, crafted from the comfort of their rented basement apartment. Lead vocalist Wungramthing Shimray, along with bassist Kachuimi Luithui, drummer SP Wotsa, and guitarist Soringthing Raihing, form the heart of the band.

Bringing together their diverse musical talents, the members of Notfunny Band first crossed paths through various praise and worship events at different churches. Over time, their shared love for music blossomed into a close-knit friendship, leading to impromptu jam sessions at the former band “Friday’s” jam pad. Fueled by their mutual passion for music, the band officially came into being in October 2019 and hasn’t looked back since.

Long Days serves as the band’s fourth original single, reflecting their fascination with exploring the intricacies of love. According to the band, love is a prevailing emotion among the youth, making it a theme that resonates deeply with their audience. Described as a heartfelt plea for companionship and reassurance, the song delves into the yearning for emotional connection amidst the fear of solitude.

In a bid to stay true to their unique identity and creative finesse, Notfunny Band has again set new benchmarks for creativity and brilliant execution with their latest release. The music video for Long Days, filmed against the scenic backdrop of TK Woodland, exudes a feel-good vibe, accentuated by captivating choreography and a thoughtfully curated wardrobe. The music video presents a visually captivating experience with a unique and aesthetically pleasing allure, exuding an immaculate and upbeat vibe that perfectly complements the song’s theme and mood.

The Music Video (MV) filming spanned two days and two nights, with the band’s wide circle of friends playing a pivotal role in conceptualizing and producing the video. Their active involvement, from starring as dancers in the MV to providing valuable input in direction and resource allocation, was indispensable. Crediting their friends’ support for bringing their vision to life and emphasizing the collaborative effort that made the video a success. “The video is as much theirs as it is ours,” stated the band.

When it comes to songwriting, the band revealed that they operate as a cohesive unit, with each member contributing equally to the lyrical composition and creative process. Recorded at Kazokra Studio in Ukhrul and mixed and mastered at Element Indie Records in Nagaland, Long Days epitomizes the band’s commitment to producing high-quality MV.

Despite initial nerves about audience engagement following their hiatus, Notfunny Band has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for their latest release. Fueled by this positive response, the band is gearing up for more exciting projects in the pipeline.

In an exciting development, the band will be opening for the globally renowned LA-based band The Midnight on February 20th at Aizawl, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey. With plans for an upcoming EP series and a highly anticipated country tour on the horizon, the pop rock band is poised to make waves in the music scene once again.

The band exclusively revealed that one of the releases in their EP series will be their first Tangkhul song titled Namangli, a moment they are eagerly looking forward to sharing with their fans. Additionally, they hinted at their long-awaited country tour, where they plan to visit major metropolitan cities in India and perform at prominent musical venues, showcasing their talent and spreading their unique brand of music to a wider audience.
