Chandel: Peace is essential for inclusive development. Manipur needs peace and prosperity through mutual dialogue and respect for one another, said Kachui Timothy Zimik, the consensus candidate of the NPF, BJP, and NPP alliance for the 18th Lok Sabha election from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency on Thursday.

Speaking at the gathering in Leipung Tampak village under Chandel district, Zimik, who is on a campaigning spree for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony among the diverse communities in Manipur. “We have many communities here in Manipur, and we have been living together in peace. But now, the Nagas, the Kukis, and Meiteis are not happy because of the unrest in the state,” he said.

Zimik noted that violence begets violence and stressed the urgent need for peace. “The government and CSOs are making efforts to solve the problem, but it’s our problem, so we must solve it collectively,” he added.

The former IRS officer further emphasized that they should be the solution, not the problem, and pledged to work towards bringing peace and development to Manipur if elected in this election.

Regarding the delimitation process potentially increasing one more seat in Chandel district, the alliance candidate assured that he would consider and take into account their concerns and views on the matter.

To improve the economy and ensure sustainable development for Chandel, Zimik urged voters to prioritize regional growth and representation through their votes. “The people of Chandel feel neglected. Trust me! I will not fail you. Please vote for me. If elected, I will do my best to bring development to Manipur and the Chandel area,” he declared.

The campaign was joined by BJP leaders from Nagaland, including Y Patton, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, and Temjen Imna Along, the Higher Education and Tourism Minister. NPF Manipur State Unit President and Minister Awangbow Newmai, BJP MLA SS Olish, and NPP MLA Janghemlung Panmei, among others, voiced their endorsement, highlighting the importance of prioritizing regional growth and collaborative governance for Manipur voters.
