The Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) recounted that on 27th September 2010, when Anthony Ningkhan’s enforced disappearance from Kathmandu airport happened, it was the late Chonthingla’s alertness and composure that prevented his complete disappearance and raised a red alert to all through NPMHR. As the persecution and trial began, she remained prepared and entered the battle with full confidence that victory would come soon, the body said and added that due to such history and grit of late Chonthingla, the Nagas today are blessed with an abled leader and Longvibu among them.
“It took six years for her husband to be freed, but during those years, Chonthingla gathered her three children and gave her best to ensure they were protected and nurtured. While- such stories are common among the Naga families, Chonthingla took on even greater roles and responsibilities when her husband became the Longvibu of the Naga Army. She managed and supervised the affairs of home and outside because they were important to her. People’s relationship was a priority to her, and she was often seen accompanying Anthony Ningkhan on most of his trips”, the NPMHR said paying tribute to her.

“General Anthony Ningkhan Shimray, Peter, Phiphi, and Jedi, please accept our deepest condolences,” it said.
