UKHRUL: The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Senapati and Senapati District Students’ Assoiation (SDSA) have stated that the ongoing economic blockade called by the United Naga Council (UNC) is a demand for justice of the six Naga individuals who were brutally killed at Leilon Vaiphei, in response to the ultimatum from the Kuki Students’ Organisation Twilang.
The NPO stated that KSO, Twilang Block, should understand about the ongoing agitation as directly connected with the demand for justice for the six Naga civilians who were kidnapped from Leilon Vaiphei village and subsequently handed over to the KNF-P, where they were brutally killed and slaughtered. Their mortal remains are still lying at the JNIMS mortuary, it said.

The KSO, Twilang Block, is therefore urged to understand the sentiments and pulse of the Naga people at this critical juncture.
“Issuing ultimatum or attempting to exert pressure in such manner will not contribute towards resolving the underlying issue. Instead, they should direct their efforts towards urging the Government to deliver justice for the six slained innocent Naga civilians who were kidnapped and brutally murdered by their own community, adding such an approach would help create a conducive atmosphere for dialogue and contribute towards restoring peace,” NPO stated.
Further, it added that despite the prevailing circumstances and the deep anguish among the people, the Naga people of Senapati have exercised maximum restraint and have made every effort to avoid actions that could further escalate the situation. However, everything has its own limit and KSO Twilang Block should understand it.
The NPO then cautioned that that any action contrary to the spirit and objectives of the ongoing democratic agitation will be at their own risk.
Similarly, the SDSA representing the Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM), Mao Students Union (MSU), Maram Students Union (MKS), Zeliangrong Students Union-Senapati (ZSU-S) and the Thangal Students Union (TAJ) has warned the KSO Twilang not to defy the UNC’s call.
“Should the KSO, Twilang Block, choose to defy our peaceful and democratic agitation, the SDSA and it’s federating units will neither tolerate such actions nor remain a mute spectator. It added, “Let it be known that if the KSO, Twilang Block, actively opposes the democratic agitation called by the UNC, they shall bear sole responsibility for any eventualities or untoward incidents that unfold. The SDSA will not be held accountable, and any consequences will be entirely at their own risk.”

The student body also stated that despite the continuous arson, burning of houses, and daily instances of unprovoked firing carried out by Kuki narcotic terrorists within the Naga homeland, no decisive action has been taken by the authorities so far. Resorting to threats and intimidation at this critical juncture will not resolve the ongoing crisis, instead, it will only serve to severely escalate tensions, the joint student bodies stated.
Furthermore, the body also urged the Government not to succumb to one-sided pressure while demanding justice for the six Naga civilians who were mercilessly slaughtered by Kuki narcotic terrorists, as well as the 13 innocent civilians killed.
