UKHRUL: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) has strongly condemned the murder of Angel Chakma, a 24-year-old MBA student from Tripura in Dehradun, Uttarakhand and demanded swift and exemplary action against the culprits.

In a letter to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, the youth front of the National People’s Party (NPP) stated that justice for Angel Chakma is not only a legal responsibility rather it is a moral obligation.

Condemning the incident, the NPYF wrote, “As the Youth Front of the National People’s Party (NPP), a national party that hails from the Northeast and consistently stands for the rights, dignity, and interests of the people of the region, we express our deep shock and outrage over the tragic death of (Late) Angel Chakma, who was reportedly assaulted and fatally stabbed in Dehradun after confronting racial slurs and abuse. This brutal and senseless act is a grave violation of human dignity and a disturbing reminder of the prejudice and discrimination that citizens from the Northeast continue to face across the country.”

The NPYF urged the Uttarakhand chief minister to ensure a swift, transparent, and uncompromising pursuit of justice while demanding that those responsible must be arrested, prosecuted, and punished according to the law.

“Those responsible must be arrested, prosecuted, and punished to the fullest extent of the law, so that this crime does not fade into silence and no individual is made to feel unsafe or targeted because of their identity. Justice for Angel Chakma is not only a legal responsibility, it is a moral obligation and a test of our collective commitment to equality, safety, and constitutional values,” it stated.
