Ukhrul: As the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections approach, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has issued a strong statement stating the need for a transparent and democratic electoral process.

The NSCN-IM has explicitly warned its members against any involvement in the electoral process. The press release categorically stated that no members of the NSCN should participate in any capacity related to the elections.

The NSCN press release called for all stakeholders to respect the democratic process and ensure that the elections are conducted in a manner that reflects the true will of the people, free from any form of coercion or manipulation.

“Let the election be done with strong democratic process where there is freedom and fairness without any intimidation. No members of National Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN) should be involved in any manner whatsoever,” it said.

It it worth noting that a total of 669 candidates, that includes 238 women for three municipal councils and thirty-six town councils, have submitted their nominations for the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Nagaland, scheduled for June 26, as per State Election Commission.
