“The Pangsau Pass International Festival stands as a powerful symbol of unity, history and cultural resilience. It brings together the Tangsa people, other Naga Tribes and diverse ethnic communities who have co-existed in this region for centuries. Through traditional songs, dances and cultural expressions, the festival celebrates a shared heritage that transcends artificial political boundaries,” it stated.
It continued, “Notably, it also witnesses the participation of cultural troupes from the Tangshang Naga community across the imposed Indo-Myanmar borders, reaffirming the deep historical and cultural bonds of the Naga people. The significance of this festival is further magnified by its historic location situated along the ancient migration routes, the World War II era Stilwell/Ledo Road, the infamous Hell-Gate and the breathtaking Pangsau Pass.”
The NSCN-K has accused NSCN-YA group led by Yung Aung-Joseph of consistently acting as a major obstacle to peace, stability and development on both sides of the artificially imposed border.

“On numerous occasions, this group has deliberately disrupted festivals and public gatherings, spreading fear and panic among the people to prevent participation. The recent attack on the Naga Army on January 9, 2026 at Ithammataing village in the Pangsau area, carried out with the assistance of hired non-Naga mercenaries, clearly exposes the violent and destructive intentions of the Yung Aung- Joseph group,” NSCN-K alleged.
It further alleged that the Tangshang Region Authority of NSCN-YA forcibly demanded and extorted Rs 200,000 from the PPIF organizers.
“Such anti-people and anti-Naga activities have directly contributed to the chronic underdevelopment of Naga-inhabited areas on both sides of the artificial border, making them among the most neglected regions in the world,” it stated adding that NSCN-K firmly commits itself to exploring all possible ways and means to encourage, protect and promote comprehensive development, peace and prosperity in the border areas on the Indian side as well as across all Naga-inhabited regions in Myanmar.
