UKHRUL: National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (Yung Aung) faction has accused individuals of allegedly extorting money from government departments and business establishments in Kohima and Dimapur districts by falsely claiming to represent the organisation.

In a statement on Tuesday, the NSCN-K (YA) identified one alleged impostor as Kakto Chopy, who it claimed had been operating under the alias “HK Sema” and collecting substantial sums from government departments in Kohima. The group alleged that he had continued the activities despite previous warnings.

The NSCK-K (YA) further issued a final warning to Chopy and others allegedly involved in similar activities to cease their operations immediately. It also contained a threat of capital punishment against those accused, raising concerns over the use of threats in the purported enforcement of the group’s authority.

Furthermore, the group’s Ministry of Trade and Commerce said it had appointed Toshi Naga, Joint Secretary, and Avolie Angami, Deputy Secretary, as finance in-charges to oversee financial operations, coordination and strategic planning in Kohima and Dimapur with immediate effect.
