Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) expressing condolence over the death of MLA Toshi Wungtung who died of post-Covid-19 related health complications on July 1 in Delhi said it was deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing away and offered its deepest respect to the dear departed leader.
Toshi Wungtung, Advisor of IPR, SCERT and Village Guards, Government of Nagaland, “was a visionary leader and a thinker par excellence during whose lifetime of service had brought about many social changes for the common cause of the Yimchunger community in particular and the Naga people at large,” NSF said.
The federation furhter said that “his service and contribution as the Member Consultative/ Advisory Committee Naga Students’ Federation and Member, Border Area Research and Drafting Committee NSF on Legal Interpretation of Article 371 (A) in regard to Land and Resources and 16 Point Agreement had been immense and uplifting. At his demise, the Naga people have lost a noble soul and one who shall continue to occupy a special place in our hearts.”
“Our hearts and prayers goes out to the bereaved family members, loved ones, friends and well-wishers at this difficult hour of grief. May the Almighty God grant us all with the strength to bear with this irreparable loss,” it added.
Toshi Wungtung was 56 and is survived by his wife. A state funeral will be accorded to pay last respect and homage at the residence of the deceased legislator in Dimapur, Purana Bazar today.
