Ukhrul, August 3: NSS volunteers from Pettigrew College, Ukhrul, organized a cleanliness drive at Shingcha Wuyawon during their seven-day special camp on Saturday. The initiative aimed to collect single-use plastic waste and raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness. The Wuyawon flowers bloom at Mount Wuya Kachui, Shingcha, a popular tourist attraction.
Twenty-five NSS volunteers participated, collecting around 40 kg of plastic waste across the mountain range. The event was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Hopeson Thingshung and M. Kaphungsing.

The objectives of the drive the coordinator of the cleanliness drive said is for Environmental Conservation: Instilling the importance of reducing pollution and preserving natural beauty and biodiversity; Community Engagement: Encouraging collective action by involving students and volunteers and; Awareness Raising: Educating the community on cleanliness, waste management, and environmental sustainability.
NSS volunteers from Pettigrew College, Ukhrul, also thanked the committee of Shingcha Wuyawon for their active cooperation in carrying out the cleanliness drive.
