Manipur reported one COVID-19 related death case after a gap of 14 days, taking the fatality tally to 375 in the state on Thursday, even as infection tally surged to 29,463 with 15 fresh positive cases reported in the past 24 hours.

A boy of 5 years hailed from Bishnupur district expired at Shija hospital, Imphal, on Thursday, taking the cumulative number of deaths to 375, said the daily update report of the state Health department.

Five out of 15 fresh COVID-19 cases recorded in Manipur in the past 24 hours were air passengers who returned from other states of the country as infection tally is surging in the last few days.

The report of the state Health department said that 15 persons including one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases in the state in the past 24 hours.

Four each of the 14 new cases from the general populace were from Bishnupur and Jiribam while three each were from Imphal West and Imphal East and one from Churachandpur.

Three patients were discharged upon recovery from the viral disease in the past 24 hours, pushing the recovery tally of the state to 29,001.

The number of active cases in the state also rose to 87. The recovery rate of the state stood at 98.43%.
Meanwhile, with 961 people vaccinated on Wednesday, the total number of people who received vaccines against COVID-19 in the state rose to 90,551. The number included 31,813 healthcare workers.
