Ukhrul: A one-day capacity building training for women traders of Ava Market was held at Ukhrul headquarters on Friday. The program was organised with the sole intent to educate the women vendors about the various prospects and the ways to streamline their market in keeping with the change so that the thriving market continue to flourish.
The event was organised by Manipur State Women Commission in association with Tangkhul Leisak Long (TLL) and sponsored by National Commission for Women.
Speaking at the occasion, Peacemoon Zimik, president, TLL appreciated the National Commission for Women and State Commission for Women for conducting the one day capacity building training program for women traders in Ukhrul.
“If we want to empower the nation, we have to first empower the women,” Peacemoon stressed.
He then proposed the National Commission for Women to “conduct entrepreneurship workshop” for women in both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts in the coming months.
Speaking on the topic: “Knowledge of relevant banking schemes and how to use online banking,” Uttam Singh, Manager SBI, Ukhrul highlighted the various avenues the district populace could avail.

The followings are the main thrust areas namely –
- Account opening and different kinds of deposits schemes
- Different kinds of loans under MSME, Government sponsored schemes
- Different Social security schemes of Govt.of India like PMSBY,PMJJBY and APY and its benefits
- Different kinds of credit guarantee schemes like CGTMSE and CGMFU to protect/secure the loans and
- Importance of timely recovery of bank loans and its effect on CIBIL/Credit scoring, were elaborated by the Manager SBI , Ukhrul.
Resource person from IT department Angampo Kasar, district Manager, DIT and Vareingam Ramrak, district Manager, CSC spoke on the vital role the “E- Commerce” plays in today’s competitive world.
E-commerce or Electronic commerce means buying and selling of goods or services over the internet. Transaction of money funds and data are also considered as E-commerce. It consists of buyers, sellers and consumers, the duo maintained. They also educate the women on the essence and the ways to open E-Commerce.
“To start own E-commerce one needs to decide business plan and mode. Brand your business and register with the E-commerce business and built E-commerce website or use pre-built third party E-commerce platform apart from opening bank account and using QR code for payment, among others.
Online apps, CSC-Grameen estore, CSC Registration, Fraud call/ account hacking (ATM), creating WhatsApp group/ Facebook pages, etc. were some of the areas they focused in their speech.
The program began with opening prayer by Soso Zimik, president, Zaoranao Shinshim, Ava Market.
The programme was attended by Ava Market vendors and well wishers.
