One dead, 7 injured in a scuffle at Kakwa Naorem Leikari; Accused house burnt

A 17 year old minor died while 7 others including 3 women sustained injuries in a shooting incident at Kakwa Naorem Leikai, Sofa Leirak in Imphal, West District under Singjamei Police Station on Sunday.

The deceased minor is identified as RK. Casper (17) S/o (L) RK Dhanasana. He succumbed to the bullet injury at Raj Medicity, Imphal.

The injured persons are Naorem Inao (76), Naorem Hemabati (50), Naorem Thoibisana (36), Naorem Phulendro (32), Naorem Amarjit (27), Naorem Barun (20) and Naorem Banish (17).

Two accused involved in firing gunshot – Longjam Rakesh and his father, Longjam Achou from Kakwa Huidrom Leikai were arrested by the police.

Irate locals of the deceased minor’s locality burnt down the house of the shooter in the wee hours today. They also vandalised 3 other houses and set ablaze a van.
