In collaboration with Selco Foundation & Blackfrog Technologies Pvt Ltd, Recognize Rise and Empower Association (RREA), a Non-Profit based in Manipur has piloted Emvolio device in Community Health Centre, Kamjong and Primary Health Centre Phungyar.

Kamjong district is the only district as well as the first district in Manipur where this device has been piloted in consultation with the District administration and District health Machineries.

Emvolio is a portable battery-powered refrigeration device that will strictly maintain any preset temperature for over 12 hours for last mile transport of vaccines. Emvolio’s 2 litre capacity enables it to carry 30-50 vials, which is standard for daylong immunization campaign.

The device is also capable for continuous temperature monitoring, location tracking, state of charge indication, communication via live tracking and vital statistics for improved coverage. Further, it helps optimize human resources in vaccine delivery by removing the need for repeated immunization visits to account for the administration of unviable vaccines. Most importantly, the battery-powered device stands apart from the competition with its unmatched portability and ease of charging.

This system, at a pilot scale, has been helping remote health centres relieve the economic burden of wasted vaccines!

Blackfrog Technologies Private Limited is a healthcare technology startup company based in Manipal, in southern India. The company is incubated under Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator and funded by the government of India (BIRAC, DBT) to develop portable medical-grade refrigeration systems for last-mile transport of thermally sensitive biologicals like vaccines, blood, serums, viral culture (e.g.: COVID-19 specimens), etc. The company has successfully developed a product as per specifications laid out by WHO-PQS, now deployed across 3 states and is currently seeking to create an integrated system to help solve system-level problems associated with immunization service delivery.
