One dies of Covid-19 in Ukhrul dist; Kamjong dist logs one new case

Cumulative death toll surged to 15 while total active case reached 111 in the last 24 hours in Ukhrul district. Altogether 12 positive patients has been discharged today, according to district surveillance officer, Ukhrul.

Covid-19 claimed a 54-year-old S Paulinus H/o Yaoyaphy S who was an AE I/C of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC). The deceased, a resident of Chingjaroi khullen breathed his last at district hospital Ukhrul on Sunday.

The deceased was admitted at Covid-19 isolation ward on May 17 at 2 PM. He was tested positive for SARS COVID-2 on Rapid Antigen Test kit on May 15 at 11:05 AM. His condition deteriorated on May 30 (Sunday) at 6:30 AM. Following which CPR was initiated according to the latest ACLS protocols but the patient went into coma and there was no return of spontaneous circulation. He was declared dead at 1: 25 PM on Sunday. Cardiac pulmonary arrest was the immediate cause of his death, according to medical superintendent Ukhrul, Dr. Reisangmi Raikhan.

Convenor of Tangkhul Co-ordination Forum on Covid-19 (TCFC), Chief Executive Officer UADC Polly Makan delivered the condolence message while Dearson Chamroy, Chairman Ato Longphang pronounced the prayer prior to carrying the mortal remains of the deceased to his native village.

Bidding farewell to their AE incharge, UADC CEO thank the sitting MLA of 45-Chingai AC Khashim Vashum for arranging the coffin while acknowledging the help extended by DC Ukhrul and his team, doctors and staff of district hospital Ukhrul, TCFC and well wishers amid tough times.

Meanwhile, the district reported eight fresh positive case on Sunday taking the total active case to 111 while the death toll reached 15.

Out of the total 111 active case in the district – 18 are from district isolation ward, Transit Covid Care Centre 60, Jessami isolation centre 24, Lambui isolation centre 2, Tongou village community isolation centre 3, Shangkai 3, and Maichon community isolation centre 1.

Altogether 12 positive patients has been discharged today, according to district surveillance officer, Ukhrul.

In view of the impending threats of the COVID-19 pandemic in the area and to prevent spread, Additional district magistrate Ukhrul in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Para 12 of the Manipur Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 had sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the seven containment area and directed to initiate active surveillance of the Covid cases with immediate effect.

The seven containment zone are: Residence of Varechon Raman H/o Ngathingmi, Khamphasom tang Ukhrul; Ady Kasar W/o Vareso, Khamphasom tang Ukhrul; Yuingam A Khamrang H/o Holy, Hamleikhong -E; Ngaseilei H/o late Huimi of New Cannan; Tharayo Ngashangva W/o late Vilo, New Cannan; Thotreila Muivah W/o Shangreikhai, New Cannan and Philayun Marei W/o Ayo Marei of new Cannan village.

Kamjong district on Sunday reported one Covid-19 positive. The district has a total of 28 active case as of Sunday. The cumulative number of positive cases stands at 407.

The updated cumulative number of samples collected and result declared for persons who have taken test in Kamjong district is 7778.

No Covid-19 fatality was reported in the district.
