Senapati, Jan 31: The Lieut Col (Late) Robert TA Open Football Tournament is set to commence on February 4, 2025, at the Senapati Astro Turf Ground. A total of 18 teams will compete in a league-cum-knockout format, bringing together some of the finest footballing talents in the region. The event is being organised by the 16 AR/22 SECT/IGAR (E) in association with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM).

Organised in memory of Lieut Col (Late) Robert TA, the tournament aims to promote sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence in football. Teams from across the region will participate, displaying their skills, teamwork, and passion for the sport.

The list of participating teams includes Makhrelui FC, United Brothers, Sadar Hills FC, Gorkha FA, Hills United FC, Essi United, Football 4 Change, Lzivions FC, Zalengam FC, Sagarmatha Gorkha FC, Sakol FC, Sadar Hills FA, Zeliangrong FC, Senapati FC, Laizon FC, Asufii FA (Under-17), United Kirat FC, and Hills Academy FA.

The 18 teams will be divided into groups and will compete in a round-robin format. The top teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage, leading to the semi-finals and the grand finale. The tournament will run from February 4, 2025, culminating in the final match and a prize distribution ceremony.

This tournament serves as a tribute to Lieut Col (Late) Robert TA and provides a platform for young footballers to showcase their skills at a competitive level. Football fans, supporters, and the local community are invited to witness this exciting tournament at the Senapati Astro Turf Ground.

Cash prizes have been announced for the top-performing teams. The quarter-finalists will receive Rs. 15,000, the semi-finalists Rs. 30,000, and the runners-up Rs. 1.5 lakh, and the winners will take home Rs. 3 lakh.
