At the initial stage, the open gym was installed in Marung, Ukhrul about 15km from Ukhrul headquarters. Because of the distance, the people of Ukhrul could not have easy access and it was left unused. Realising this, former national football star Somatai Shaiza along with the locality have taken the initiative to relocate and install an open gym at KK Leishiphanit Ground, Kasomtang, Ukhrul.
