Pambei Led UNLF Expresses Regret Over Incident at The Ocean Lounge; Vows Disciplinary Action

Imphal: Pambei Led UNLF has expressed deep regret over the recent incident at The Ocean Lounge in the Khuman Lampak area of Chingmeirong, Imphal West District. A press release signed by Pambei Led UNLF Media Coordinator Charairongba Thokchom announced the outfit’s decision to take disciplinary action against four of its members who had harassed a Tangkhul woman at the lounge.

The press release stated that the actions of these members violated the outfit’s ideology of giving utmost respect to women in society. It also noted that the incident resulted from alcohol consumption and expressed concern over Ocean Lounge serving illicit liquor to its guests. Pambei Led UNLF clarified that the incident was not an attack on any particular community and pledged to work towards preventing similar incidents in the future.

It is worth mentioning that the firing incident at The Ocean Lounge, which injured at least eight civilians, one critically, and involved the alleged harassment of a woman, took place on the evening of July 26 around 9 PM. On the same day, Manipur Police arrested four UNLF (P) cadres from Chingmeirong, Imphal West District. According to the police, they are identified as Thounaojam Gopen Singh (34), Naorem Ningthouremba (25), Arambam Tom Meitei (35), and Laishram Doshnikumar (28). They were involved in the firing incident, assault of civilians, and outraging the modesty of a woman. They have been remanded to eight days of police custody.
