Pangolin rescued in Tamenglong

Ukhrul, June 10: One Pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) commonly known as “ant eater” has been rescued by Kuilong villagers of Tamei, in Manipur’s Tamenglong district on Monday and handed over to Khundrakpam Johnson Range Forest Officer, Tamei under Tamenglong Forest Division. 

The animal was brought to Imphal on Tuesday and later handed over to the Director Manipur Zoological Garden for proper veterinary care.

The Pangolin (Manis crassicaudata), also known as the Indian Pangolin, is included in the Schedule I of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
