SENAPATI, NOV 11: Paokhaodi FC emerged champions of the Poumai Premier League (PPL) Season XI, 2025, after defeating Pou Legend FC 1–0 in a thrilling final held at the Astro Turf Ground, Senapati, on Tuesday.
The much-anticipated match drew a large crowd, with passionate supporters filling the stands and surrounding areas as both teams battled for the coveted title.
The decisive moment came in the 41st minute when Paokhaodi FC’s No. 10, Hiivei Carlos, scored the lone goal, sealing victory and dethroning defending champions Pou Legend FC.

The closing ceremony was graced by N. Kaikho Kapa, Joint Director (Retd), Tribal Affairs and Hills Development, Government of Manipur, as chief guest, and Luny Justin, President of the Poumai Veteran Sports Association and Vice President of the Manipur State Badminton Association, as special guest.
In his address, Luny Justin reflected on the transformation of sports in the region, noting how the district has moved from a past of conflict to one of talent and achievement. He encouraged parents and communities to support young players and lauded the PPL organizing committee for promoting unity and youth engagement through sports.
Chief guest Kaikho Kapa commended the growing sports culture in Senapati, urging the district’s five major tribes to continue working together in peace and solidarity. “We must live as fingers of one hand — united, supportive, and always ready to help one another,” he said.
Before the kick-off, a group of children carrying banners that read “Let Peace Prevail in Manipur” led both teams onto the field, underscoring the event’s message of harmony through sports.

Individual awards were presented at the end of the tournament: Golden Boot: Chanso (Ratung FC) – 13 goals; Golden Ball: Wungsung Lungleng (Pou Legend FC); Golden Glove: Chinavi (Paokhaodi FC); Emerging Young Player: Dikapu (Pou Legend FC); Best Manager: Reuben (Zho United FC); Best Coach: Nagopuni (Paokhaodi FC); Best Medic: Avei Bonid (Pou Legend FC).
The champions, Paokhaodi FC, received a cash prize of ₹1,20,000, a trophy, and certificates, while runners-up Pou Legend FC took home ₹80,000 and certificates. Semi-finalists Heudu FC and Zho United FC each received ₹10,000.
