Peoples Democratic Alliance Urges Centre to Conclude Indo-Naga Peace Talks

Kohima, October 16: A meeting of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) of Nagaland on Wednesday “called upon” the Government of India and the negotiating parties in the Indo-Naga peace process to undertake sincere measures to carry forward the ongoing dialogue to its logical conclusion. The meeting urged that the settlement must be negotiated in a manner that is honourable, inclusive and acceptable to the people, an official report said today.

The PDA meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, and attended by Y. Patton, Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the BJP Legislature Party; Benjamin Yepthomi, president, BJP Nagaland; Abu Metha, secretary general, NDPP; Rusemtong Longkumer, senior vice president, NDPP; Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and secretary general, NPF and Apong Pongener, president, NPF, the report also said. The meeting then expressed its appreciation to the Government of India under the “visionary” leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for the continued support and commitment towards the all-round development of the state of Nagaland, it added.

The meeting also “warmly” welcomed the decision of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) to officially join the PDA and resolved to accept the NPF as a full- fledged partner of the alliance.

The meeting further extended its appreciation to the central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its guidance, support and positive decision in endorsing the inclusion of the NPF as a partner of the PDA.
