Peace rally in solidarity to farmers’ protest organized by Congress in Imphal

Members of Seva Dal of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Friday organised a peace rally on the streets in Imphal to show solidarity to the ‘Kisan Satyagraha-Dandi Yatra’.

The rally kick-started from Congress Bhavan at BT Road in the heart of Imphal marched towards Thangal Bazar, where the marchers paid floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at MG Avenue.

After paying tributes, they further marched on the streets along Thangal Bazar from where they snaked through Nagamapal and then along BT Flyover and converged at the starting place, Congress Bhavan.

The rally led by MPCC general secretary (Administration and in-charge of Seva Dal) was also attended by other leaders and members of the Seva Dal.

Opposition Congress has been launching ‘Kisan Satyagraha-Dandi Yatra’ showing solidarity to the farmers of the country protesting against three farm laws enacted by the incumbent BJP-led NDA government.

Farmers of the country are protesting against the three farm laws – The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 since December last year.

In support of the farmers’ demand, the opposition Congress has also been launching various forms of protests of which Kisan Satyagraha-Dandi Yatra is one.
