TNL Held Meeting With Kuki Chiefs Located along Imphal – Ukhrul Road

Ukhrul, May 16: Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) held a meeting with the Chiefs of Imphal-Ukhrul Road located along Imphal-Ukhrul Road (National Highway 202) at the office of TNL on Thursday.

The meeting was necessitated following a press communique issued by Kuki-Zo Village Volunteer -Eastern Zone (KZVV-EZ) on May 11, 2025.

The discussion focused on ensuring co-operation and harmony between the communities involved in the Shirui Lily Festival’s celebrations 2025. The key points and agreements made during the meeting, emphasised the commitment of both the parties to maintain a peaceful environment during the festival.

The Kuki Village Chiefs present at the meeting clarified that they should not be held responsible for any inflammatory press communiqué released by the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers -Eastern Zone (KZVV-EZ) on May 11, 2025 and the Village Volunteer Eastern Zone, Kuki-Zo-Gam on May 14 2025. This acknowledgement was made to prevent misunderstandings that could escalate tensions between the communities.

Both TNL and the Kuki Village Chiefs reaffirmed the agreement entered in 2023, which explicitly discourages any individual or village from frisking or checking vehicles and passersby within the jurisdictions of Tangkhul Naga Long. It was emphasized that any person acting contrary to this directive will face serious consequences as deemed appropriate by the TNL.

The Kuki Village Chiefs assured that there would be no disturbances, enabling a festive atmosphere where all attendees can enjoy the celebration in peace.
