Phungcham Stage Dedicated to Villagers

Ukhrul, March 19: A permanent stage constructed through the collective efforts of Phungcham villagers and spearheaded by Zuringla Kengoo (IAS) was dedicated to the villagers on March 18, 2025.

The stage was officially inaugurated by Tuireising Horam, the Headman of Phungcham, who unveiled the plaque and dedicated the structure to the community. Special prayers were offered by Rev. Diamond Muivah, Pastor of Phungcham Baptist Church, and Rev. Keen Lungran Shang, Pastor of Phungcham Baptist Church (TNBC).

In her message to the Phungcham villagers, Kengoo Zuringla (IAS) expressed her hopes for the stage, stating, “May this stage benefit the village, and may the community make good use of it.”

Iping Zimik, General Secretary of the Phungcham Haofa̱ Lovers Association (PHLA), extended heartfelt gratitude to Kengoo Zuringla (IAS) for her exceptional and noble initiative in constructing the Phungcham Stage. He recounted, “During the third edition of the Phungcham Haofa̱ Festival in 2024, PHLA approached Madam Kengoo Zuringla, the then Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, for financial assistance to build a permanent stage in Phungcham. Without hesitation, Kengoo Zuringla readily agreed and personally contributed Rs. 5,35,000 for the construction and completion of the stage.”

The dedication ceremony was attended by the Headman and members of the Phungcham Village Authority, the President and members of Phungcham Katamnao Mayar Ngala Long (PKMNL), Phungcham Shanao Long (PSL), Phungcham Village Development Council, Atungtang Mayar Ngala Long, Azingtang Mayar Ngala Long, Atungtang Parei Gahar Long, Azingtang Parei Gahar Long, as well as pastors and deacons from the four churches in the village.

The Abduction and Murder of 6 Naga Civilians

On the morning of May 13, 2026, between 10:30 am and 11:00 am, the Kukis forcefully abducted 12 women including an infant and six men at Leilon Vaiphei, a Kuki village.
