Agartala/Ukhrul, Jun 20: In a major endorsement of Northeast India’s development trajectory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that Tripura has emerged as a beacon of progress after decades of Left rule, speaking at Odisha’s government anniversary function.

Addressing the State-level function to commemorate the completion of one year of the BJP-led Government of Odisha at Bhubaneswar on Friday, Modi showcased Tripura as a prime example of transformation under BJP governance.

“Referring to Tripura, the Prime Minister mentioned that after decades of Leftist rule, the people gave their party a chance,” he stated while inaugurating development projects worth over Rs 18,600 crore there.

The Prime Minister painted a stark picture of Tripura’s past challenges, noting that the state “lagged behind on every development indicator, with infrastructure in disrepair and the government system unresponsive to public concerns.”

He further emphasized that “people were troubled by violence and corruption” during the previous regime.

However, Modi highlighted the remarkable turnaround, declaring that “today, Tripura is emerging as a symbol of peace and progress.” This transformation forms part of his broader vision for Eastern India’s development potential.

“The growth of 21st-century India will be powered by Eastern India. This is the era of Purvoday,” Modi proclaimed, positioning the Northeast as crucial to India’s future growth trajectory.
