Ukhrul, January 15: Destruction of illegal poppy plantation has been intensifies in Ukhrul District.

“In a continued effort to eliminate illegal planation of poppy, a combined team of Ukhrul District Police, 6 Manipur Rifles, Forest Department of Ukhrul along with personnel of Border Security Forces and 8 Bihar Regiment destroyed around 60 acres of poppy plantations at Yoalen Hill range on Wednesday,” informed Additional SP of Ukhrul.

Yaolen is a medium-sized village located in Ukhurl Sub-Division in Manipur. The Yaolen village has a population of 325, of which 161 are males, while 164 are females as per the Population Census of 2011.
it may be mentioned that the Manipur Government, as part of the ongoing campaign on “War On Drugs,” destroyed around 50 acres of poppy cultivation at Mullam Village area under LM Block, Ukhrul District, Manipur this month.
