Ukhrul: 50 Acres Of Poppy Plantation Destroyed

Ukhrul, January 13: As part of the Manipur Government campaign on “War On Drugs,” around 50 acres of poppy cultivation were destroyed at Mullam Village area under LM Block, Ukhrul District, Manipur.

“The poppy destruction drive at Mullam Village area was carried out by a combined team of Ukhrul District Police, 6 Manipur Rifles, Forest Department of Ukhrul along with personnel of Border Security Forces and 8 Bihar Regiment” informed Additional SP of Ukhrul, Ringthing Hongchui.

Sources have indicated that efforts to eradicate poppy cultivation will continue in the coming days. The cultivation of poppy has caused severe environmental damage, transforming once-green hills into barren landscapes. The government and police cannot win this battle alone; it is crucial for every responsible citizen to join the campaign.
