PSU Silver Jubilee Football Tournament Concludes with Call for Discipline and Sportsmanship”

UKHRUL: Roko Angami, OSD (Sports), Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS), Government of Nagaland, on Friday underscored the values of discipline, perseverance and sportsmanship while addressing the valedictory programme of the Peshu Students’ Union (PSU) Silver Jubilee Memorial Football Tournament 2026.

Delivering his speech as the Valedictory Guest, Angami said the tournament marked not just a football match but a celebration of 25 years of passion, dedication and unforgettable moments. He described football as more than a sport, stating that it teaches important life lessons such as resilience, humility in victory and grace in defeat.

Encouraging young players to dream big, Angami urged them to respect opponents, honour the game and remain committed to hard work both on and off the field. He reminded the players that success does not come easily and called on them to remain patient, disciplined and determined in the face of challenges.
Highlighting the role of sports in community building, he expressed hope that the tournament would inspire future generations of footballers and strengthen unity within the region.

The Silver Jubilee tournament, held under the theme “United in Silver Triumph,” concluded with prize distribution, cultural presentations and a closing ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the sporting history of Peshu.
