Public Holiday Extended in Manipur Until July 5 Due to Floods and Landslides

Imphal: The Government of Manipur has extended “public holiday” till July 5 as flood continues to prevail in various parts of the valley districts, and also numerous reports of landslides in various parts of the state today due to incessant rain in the past few days.

Rains have caused overflow of the rivers in Manipur inundating several places in Imphal West district and Imphal East district. Landslides have also occurred in almost all the hill districts of the state, disrupting commuters and causing immense hardship to the people.

Meanwhile, in continuation of the earlier orders of declaring public holidays, the state government issued an order today 

declaring July 5 as a public holiday for all government offices including public sector undertakings /corporations /autonomous bodies/societies under the Government of Manipur. 

The order also advised the general public to stay indoors except in case of emergency so that the authorities can carry out the rescue and relief operations and evacuation of the stranded individuals smoothly.
