Rampant violations of SOPs leads to COVID spread in Manipur

Of the 230 fresh COVID-19 cases detected in Manipur on Thursday, 95 of them are residents of Wangoi assembly constituency of Imphal West district where the by-poll was held on November 7. 

There were allegations of rampant violations of COVID-19 SOPs during election campaigns were witnessed.

The Manipur Health department started its Targeted Testing drive in the Assembly constituencies where by-elections were held on November 7.

The by-polls were held in four assembly constituencies and the Health department started the Targeted Testing from Wangoi assembly constituency of Imphal West district. During the Targeted Testing, only one member of each household is picked up for testing.

On the first day of the commencement of the Targeted Testing on Wednesday, 533 people were tested whose results were received on Thursday with 95 them tested positive for the disease.

The Targeted Testing drive will be held in other three assembly constituencies –Wangjing-Tentha, Lilong (in Thoubal district and Saitu (in Kangpokpi district) where by-elections were held.
