RIMS nurse dies after COVID vaccine shot

A 63-year-old nurse working in RIMS hospital at Imphal reportedly died on March 11, 2021 days after receiving Covid vaccination.

The deceased nurse identified as Mahung Joymati hailed from Shingta village in Ukhrul district.

A reliable source said that Joymati was administered COVID vaccination on February 19 last.

According to the source, Joymati had medical complications from before. She initially pleaded exemption from the vaccination exercise, citing a chronic medical condition. She later took the jab according to doctor’s advice.

She soon began to develope chronic symptoms of fever on February 24 and 25 last. “For the initial first four days period (February 20-23) she was in her usual self, however, her conditions worsened in the days that followed.

On March 11, she developed breathlessness and was rightly fitted with oxygen. After a prolonged struggle she breathed her last on March 11, the source added.

However, the connection of her death with the vaccine and cause of the medical complications leading to her death could not be ascertained.

The deceased is survived by her husband.
