RKL President Leads Critical Consultation Meeting with Raphei Community in Delhi

New Delhi: Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) held a significant consultation meeting with the Raphei community in Delhi to discuss various pressing issues affecting the Raphei region and its people. The meeting was held on Sunday at the JNUSU Office in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and organised under the leadership of RKL President Paomi Khaveishang, bringing together Raphei scholars, lawyers, senior members, youth, and community leaders for a comprehensive discussion aimed at identifying solutions to key challenges and paving the way for holistic development.

The meeting commenced with an introduction by Phungshok Khongreiwoshi, a Ph.D. scholar at JNU. His remarks underscored the importance of collective dialogue in addressing systemic challenges and fostering community growth. Highlighting the key agenda items, RKL President Paomi Khaveishang outlined the critical focus areas for the meeting, emphasising the need for strategic planning and actionable solutions.

Among the top issues discussed were the following:

Success in Competitive Examinations: Discussions centred on strategies to enhance the success of the Raphei community in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and other competitive examinations. The President emphasised the need for targeted mentorship programmes, increased access to preparatory resources, and the creation of peer-support networks.

Entrepreneurship and Financial Management: The meeting highlighted the potential of entrepreneurship in addressing unemployment and fostering economic independence. Participants deliberated on initiatives to improve financial literacy, access to micro-financing, and skills training tailored to the needs of aspiring Raphei entrepreneurs.

Education and Youth Empowerment: The role of education as a transformative tool was discussed extensively. The gathering called for community-driven campaigns to reduce dropout rates, improve school infrastructure, and advocate for scholarships. Social Challenges and Vital Issues: Attendees discussed the growing concerns of social discord and the need for cohesive community-building efforts. The meeting underscored the importance of fostering solidarity within the Raphei community to address shared challenges more effectively.

Larger Policy Issues: Discussions extended to the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and its implications for the Raphei people, as well as the contentious topics of delimitation and district creation in Manipur. The meeting concluded with a prayer led by Themarak Kapai, a senior and deeply respected member of the Raphei community in Delhi. His words of hope and unity resonated with attendees, marking a reflective end to the discussions.

It served as a testament to the RKL’s commitment to uplift its people by focusing on tangible solutions and sustained engagement with broader issues affecting their future.
