Imphal, March 25: The Rongmei Naga People’s Organisation (RNPO) said today that it “welcomes the verdict of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India issued on March 18, 2025, directing the government to complete the delimitation process which has been halted in the state of Manipur, Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh within three months”.

The RNPO, in a statement issued by its president Sangamlung Kamei, then urged the concerned authority to carry out the delimitation process after the implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) and updation of voter’s ID linking with Aadhaar. “However, this organisation urges both the central and the state governments to take up necessary measures for reorganization of district boundaries to precede the delimitation process,” the statement added.

Further, the RNPO said it steadfastly opposes the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmar border. “There should be no border fencing in the Naga inhabited area where Naga families are living in close proximity in the border area of India and Myanmar”, it further added.
