Road accident at NH-37 under Noney Dist claims two lives

Noney: In an unfortunate road accident that occurred about 3 kilometres away from Noney PS along NH-37, Imphal-Jiri Road at 5:30 pm today, two VDF personnel were knocked down by an ill-fated truck which was reportedly heading towards Jiribam.

According to Noney PS, both the VDF personnel died on the spot.

The deceased are identified as Amos Bariampan 35-year-old, S/o Katanghwang Bariampan from Haochong village and Agaiba Balang 33-year-old, S/o Kadijonang Balang from Bakwa Village. Both are from Noney District.

The accident occurred when the two victims were reportedly returning back to Noney PS after dropping dinner for other police and VDF personnel assigned at police check post.

The truck driver, identified as Abjal Hussain 33-year-old from Banskandi village, Cachar District, Assam has been arrested and in police custody. The truck number is AS01 DD -1223.

A case has been registered at Noney PS for further investigation.

The bodies of the two victims were brought to Noney PHC then brought down to JNIMS morgue for post mortem after necessary procedures were carried out by Doctors.
