Imphal: Mayanglambam Romi Meitei’s 90-minute long Manipuri feature film Eikhoigi Yum (Our Home) continues to gather accolades.

In its latest feat, the film bagged an “Audience Choice Award for Best Narrative Feature in the Indie Meme Film Festival 2023 held from April 12 to 16 at Austin City, USA. The film bagged the Audience Choice award among 35 films from South Asia.

The film had earlier won the FIPRESCI award for the Best International Film and NETPAC Jury Special Mention Award at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala 2022, Best Director, Jury Special Mention and Best Cinematography at the 5th Sailadhar Baruah Film Awards 2023 and Best Feature Film at the 14th Manipur State Film Awards 2022.

The film received Official Selection at the 45th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) 2023, which will be held in Moscow from April 20 to 27.

Set on the Loktak lake with the fishing community facing eviction notice, Eikhoigi Yum (Our Home) is a narrative on the impact of globalization on a small remote village which causes the residents to move away in an attempt to eke out a livelihood.

Master Ningthoujam Priyojit, Sorri Senjam, Nganthoibi and Bhumeshore are in the cast of the film, jointly produced by Sheetal Chingsu and Romi Meitei under the banner of Thangarakpa Living Frames.
