NNN | Shillong, July 16: The Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pyniaid Sing Syiem on Thursday said that the Central government grant of Rs 45.50 crores for the three Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in Meghalaya for the year 2020-21 will be shared in the ratio 9:8:3 to KHADC, GHADC, and JHADC respectively.

“The Central government has released the Rs 45.50 crores grant to Meghalaya yesterday and the amount has been transferred to the account of the State financial department,” he said.

Stating that given the COVID situation it will hard to say how soon this will be used for developmental schemes, he however said that the new EC in the KHADC under Chief Executive Member Titosstarwell Chyne is working very hard and the EC will see that the schemes are implemented at the earliest.”

It may be noted that the amount was released by the Union Finance Ministry to Meghalaya and 26 other States as per recommended by the 15th Finance Commission.

The tied grant will be used by the District Councils for sanitation and maintenance of open-defecation-free status and supply of drinking water, rainwater harvesting and water recycling.
