Imphal: Manipur ministers charged the Opposition for disrupting the Manipur Legislative Assembly session today.
In a press conference conducted at the auditorium of DIPR, a ministerial team led by Works Minister, Govindas Konthoujam labelled the charges against the Opposition.
During the press briefing, Law and Education Minister Th. Basantakumar said that as per the Rule No. 271 of the Rules of Procedures and Conduct of Business of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the order of business of the day, which had been decided by the Business Advisory Committee, can be changed orally by the Leader of the House.
He expressed that due to the disturbances of the Opposition during the session, important and missing issues of the state could not be discussed in the Assembly. Basantakumar Singh also alleged that before the Speaker of the House could say anything, all the Opposition members stood up and created chaos with noise.
He also said that due to the noise, the Speaker had no other choice but to adjourn the House so that they could go back, rethink and come back and take up the matter in a civilised way. However, once the House resumed after half an hour, the Congress MLAs did not allow the House to discuss the important issues of the day, he further alleged.
