IMPHAL/UKHRUL: Samajwadi Party (SP) Lok Sabha MP Rajeev Kumar Rai on Sunday inaugurated the party’s new Manipur State Office at Tera Lukram Leirak, Imphal, signalling the party’s plans to expand its political activities across the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Rai, who attended the programme as the chief guest, said the Samajwadi Party was committed to the development and welfare of Manipur and appealed to the people to extend their support to the party.

Addressing the gathering, the Samajwadi Party MP said Manipur could witness development under the leadership of party president Akhilesh Yadav if the people gave the party an opportunity to serve the state. He also highlighted the work of the SP government in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that employment opportunities had been created for youths and laptops distributed to around 80 lakh people.
The party also indicated that it is preparing to expand its organisational and electoral presence beyond the valley, with plans to contest seats in the hill districts in the forthcoming Manipur Assembly elections.
SP Manipur State president Konthoujam Bishorjit Singh said the party was ready to play a role in resolving the ongoing crisis in Manipur, claiming that the situation could be brought under control within four months if the SP came to power in the state.
Bishorjit Singh also predicted a change in the political landscape at the Centre, saying the BJP-led government would be voted out in 2029 or even earlier. He projected Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi as leaders capable of providing an alternative political direction and appealed to the people of Manipur to support the SP for the welfare and development of the state.

SP Assam State president Brojen Kumar Handique attended the inauguration as the guest of honour.
The inauguration marks an expansion of the SP’s organisational activities in Manipur as the party looks to strengthen its presence in both valley and hill areas and prepare for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
