Imphal: Former Universe and Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen will attend the upcoming state-level Sangai Festival 2022 in Manipur on November 30.
Sushmita, who is the country’s first Miss Universe, will walk the ramp as the showstopper for designer Robert Naorem during the closing ceremony of the Sangai Festival at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) in Imphal.
The 11th edition of the Sangai Festival 2022 will also feature former Miss Universe Lara Dutta Bhupathi as the showstopper on ace designer Robert Naorem’s show at Peace Ground in Churachandpur district on November 26.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the curtain raiser of the Sangai Festival on Tuesday, the fashion entrepreneur Robert Naorem said, “Though, it has not been publicly announced yet but yes, we are having Sushmita Sen on the closing of the Sangai Festival at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre. She will be walking as the showstopper for my show,” adding, “it is also one of my biggest dreams to make Sushmita Sen walk the ramp at Sangai Festival in Manipur.”

Designer Robert’s work is known for his contribution towards the handloom and textiles industry of Manipur and he hopes that the presence of Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta in the state, whose names are well revered in the glamour industry of India, “will will bring a huge impact in terms of promotion of handloom and textiles industry of Manipur across the globe.”

Preparation for the 11th edition of the Sangai Festival 2022 which is scheduled from November 20 to 30, is in full swing. Sangai Festival is one of the biggest festivals in the northeast region and will be celebrated in various venues across the state.

The festival will be inaugurated at the newly-developed Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou near Loktak in Bishnupur district. The closing ceremony will take place at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre and Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal.
