‘Save Amur Falcon 2021’ Poster Campaign Launched in Tamenglong

Tamenglong: “Save Amur Falcon 2021” or “Gaklou Dikho Akhoipuina 2021” a posters campaign organised by Tamenglong Forest Division and Rainforest Club Tamenglong was launched by Awanbow Newmai, minister Forest, Environment and Climate Change, government of Manipur on Thursday at the Tamenglong Forest IB in a simple function.

TFD officials and public leaders attended in the launching program. It may be mentioned that Chiulon the satellite transmitters tagged Amur falcon had arrived at Tamenglong headquarters at 4:15 AM of October 19 as reported by Dr. Suresh Kumar, Scientist of Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.

The minister had requested the general public to support the protection of Amur falcons in Tamenglong District during migratory season of October and November for they played an important role in maintaining the ecosystem.

Hunting of Amur falcons may attract unwanted legal actions such as imprisonment upto three-years in jail and also monetary fine upto Rs. twenty five thousand.

The Forest Department is trying to protect the winged guests by deployment of volunteers and forest staff, is also trying to inculcate love and compassion of this migratory birds. The Forest Department is going to celebrate the State Level Amur falcon festival at Chiuluan during second week of November 2021, sources said.
