Scheduled budget session of Manipur Assembly to have five sittings

Imphal: The budget session of Manipur Legislative Assembly scheduled to begin from February 28 will have a total of five sittings, the provisional calendar of the Manipur Legislative Assembly said on Wednesday.

A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the legislative assembly held today in the office chamber of the Speaker decided to continue the session till March 5 with a total of five sittings.

The meeting of the Business Advisory Committee held at 1 pm discussed the time allocation of the business of the house for the ensuing session.

Since it will be the first sitting of the year, the Assembly session will start with the address of the Governor.

As per the provisional calendar circulated after the business advisory meeting, the motion of thanks to the Governor address will be taken up instantly after the address which will be followed by obituary reference if any.

On the same day, the Chief Minister who is also holding the charge of Finance portfolio will present the budget estimates for 2024 after the presentation of the Business Advisory Committee report and supplementary demands for grants 2023-24.

The motion for vote on account 2024-25 will also be taken up on the same day as per the provisional calendar.

The scheduled session of the Assembly will be the second session of the state assembly after the ongoing conflict broke out in May last year.
