Second Tangkhul Victim Confirmed in NH-202 Attack; Ex-Serviceman Among Dead

UKHRUL, APRIL 18: A second casualty has been confirmed in connection with the firing incident by suspected Kuki militants along National Highway 202 earlier on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Yaruingam Vashum, son of Thuimi Vashum of Kharasom village. He is reported to be among those affected in the attack that took place near T. M. Kasom village along the Ukhrul–Imphal road.

The incident, suspected to have been carried out by Kuki militant elements at around 2:35 pm, had earlier claimed the life of S. W. Chinaoshang, son of S. W. Ruichumhao of Tashar village, an ex-serviceman who was travelling at the time, and left multiple vehicles damaged.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the casualties and circumstances surrounding the attack. Further details are awaited as the situation continues to unfold.
