Security Forces Launch Counter-insurgency Operation in Manipur’s Churachandpur

CHURACHANDPUR: Security forces on Friday launched a counter-insurgency operation in Henglep subdivision of Churachandpur district, Manipur as a part of the ongoing efforts to curb militant activities in the strife-torn state.

According to a reliable source, Para Special Forces and Assam Rifles were airlifted into the forested areas of the hill district targeting the hideouts of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a non-SoO militant group.

The security forces dismantled hideouts, suspected to belong to the UKNA. However, no details of encounters, arrests, or recoveries have been received till the filing of this report.

Security forces in the region continue to remain alert as the operation, which began in the morning, is ongoing and likely to continue till late night, the source added.
