CHURACHANDPUR: A combined column of 31 and 36 Assam Rifles, along with a team from 11 Para (Special Forces) launched a joint counter-insurgency operation on January 16–17 at Henglep subdivision in Churachandpur district, Manipur, police said.

The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of UKNA cadres in the general area of Kolchung, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur, police said.

During the follow-up operation, a UKNA training camp was located and raided. However, the camp had been abandoned in haste, with cadres fleeing in a disorderly manner after sensing the advance of the Para SF troops. The camp infrastructure was subsequently destroyed, it stated.
