CHURACHANDPUR: A combined column of 31 and 36 Assam Rifles, along with a team from 11 Para (Special Forces) launched a joint counter-insurgency operation on January 16–17 at Henglep subdivision in Churachandpur district, Manipur, police said.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of UKNA cadres in the general area of Kolchung, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur, police said.
During the follow-up operation, a UKNA training camp was located and raided. However, the camp had been abandoned in haste, with cadres fleeing in a disorderly manner after sensing the advance of the Para SF troops. The camp infrastructure was subsequently destroyed, it stated.

A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, explosives and equipment, including 15 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), eight single-barrel country-made rifles, three country-made 9mm carbines, and one 51mm high-explosive mortar bomb. In addition, uniforms, boots, belts and other miscellaneous items were also recovered.
The seizure has been registered under FIR No. 01(01)2026 HLP-PS, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act, dated January 18, 2026, it added.
