Security tightened at Meghalaya High Court following bomb threat

Shillong: Security has been tightened at the Meghalaya High Court following a bomb threat received via email on Tuesday. 

This was the second time that such a threat was issued against the Meghalaya High Court authority.

A similar threat was also issued through an email on January 6 this year, warning of a potential bomb explosion within the high court premises. 

“In response to a threat issued through an email to the court authority, security measures have been enhanced in and around the high court,” a senior police officer said.

Security drills were also conducted in the high court on Tuesday. Bomb squads and bomb-sniffing dogs were deployed. “Everything is clear,” the police officer said. 

Meanwhile, an inquiry into the threat email has also been initiated by the police.
