Nation-Building Begins in the Classroom: Group Captain Shukla Addresses NERIE Students

SHILLONG: The North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), NCERT, Shillong organised an interactive programme with Group Captain Shri Shubhanshu Shukla, AC, on Wednesday.

In an effort to “inspire the next generation of educators and integrate scientific temperament with pedagogical practices,” the event hosted at the institute auditorium, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching faculty and administrative staff. S.P Aggarwal, the Director of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Shillong also graced the occasion as a distinguished guest.

With “the role of the teaching community in nation-building” as the central theme, Shukla urged all educators to align with the efforts of the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasising that empowered classrooms and forward-thinking teachers form the very foundation of a developed nation. He encouraged future educators to stay abreast of advancements in science and technology, adding that the first step behind every big success starts in the classroom.

In an interactive segment, students Nehal Gurung, Akansha Tiwari, Krishna Dev and Shayanika Sekhar Baishya posed questions to Shukla, allowing the students an opportunity to engage directly with the aerospace pioneer and explore topics related to space science, leadership and personal discipline.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the host, Tulika Dey, Associate Professor followed by the felicitation of the guest of honour, led by the Principal of NERIEM, Flourette G. Dkhar. Along with the distinguished faculty members present in the dais, the event successfully “achieved its objective of motivating young minds by connecting them with real-world examples of leadership and national service.”
