IMPHAL, Aug 29: Womenfolk of Sekta in Imphal East district today staged a sit-in protest at Sekta Mayai Leikai Community Hall in protest against the seizure of arms allegedly used by the village volunteers who guarded the village by the security forces on Wednesday.

The protesters demanded the security forces to return the guns seized from the village volunteers.

Notably, police resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the people that stormed the Sekta Police Outpost following the seizure of seven guns from Sekta by a combined team of police and paramilitary forces in a search operation.

She went on to allege that Kuki militants have been attacking the Meitei villages in the periphery anytime they want.
