Senapati FC lifts 1st Women’s Premiere Football League 2023

Senapati, April 20: Senapati FC lifted the 1st Women’s Premiere Football league, 2023 at Senapati Astro Turf Football ground while Dribble Pro FC bagged the runners-up of the league.

A Karang, president, District Sports Association, Senapati stated that the 1st Women’s Premiere Football League began from April 15. The league will be an annual event to be organised every year with an aim to encourage the district women football lovers providing the platform to all women of the district.

Only 6 teams participated in this year’s league. A Karang in his speech said he is hopeful that more teams will participate in the coming annual leagues.

The final play of the league was graced by Moirangthem Ratan Kumar, president, All Manipur Football Association as the chief guest.

While speaking as the chief guest, AMFA president expressed his happiness to see the league organised well for the first time in the district. While the state is known for sports, Moirangthem Kumar urged more players to take the privilege by participating in such event.

The AMFA president also encouraged the players to aim to get selected for the state level event thereby to participate at national level. Urging all players to maintain discipline and good behaviour to become renown players of the region, he underscored the big career prospect for sport persons.

Before the final match of the league, an exhibition match between Imphal FC U-17 versus YWC FC U-17 was played finishing in a draw with 1-1 goal each.

The final match of the league was played between Senapati FC and Dribble Pro FC where the former emerged as the champion of the first league with 5-0 goals. The champion team and the runner-up team were awarded with a trophy and cash prizes respectively.

The event was organised by the District Sports Association, Senapati under the aegis of the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur.
