All 70 individuals from Shokvao village in Ukhrul district who underwent sero surveillance cleared the sampling test on Friday, according to the district’s surveillance office.

“Test results of all the 70 persons tested today, came out negative,” it said. The exercise was conducted at the village as part of the ongoing sero surveillance in the district.

“The Shokvao village authority and the public were very understanding and cooperative so we could manage to wrap up the job in a record time by around 12:10 pm,” the source acknowledged, adding that the medical team is looking forward to the same kind of cooperation from the remaining villages.

As part of the sampling study, six villages each have been identified for sampling under Ukhrul Rural Hotspot (URH) and Ukhrul Rural Non-Hotspot (URNH) respectively.

Shokvao village along with five other villages of the district including Ramva, Shangshak, Choithar, Pharung and Phalee are classified under URNH , while six other villages namely, Langdang, Shirui, Halang, Lunghar, Talui and Paorei will be covered under URH. Sampling of 70 persons each from the villages will be screened.

Regarding Ukhrul district headquarters, Rayotang and Viewland Zone-I were brought under Ukhrul Urban Non-Hotspot (UUNH) and Ukhrul Urban Hotspot (UUH) zones respectively.

On November 30, five Covid positive cases were reportedly detected during its first instance of sampling in Viewland Zone-I. Rayotang already cleared the surveillance study on the following day. One family member each from 46 households each were tested from the two localities.

The state wide sero surveillance which commenced in the district on November 30, is being carried out as per the state government’s directive. The state government is targeting to collect 920 samples from each of the state’s four districts namely, Ukhrul, Imphal West, Kakching and Churachandpur during the ongoing community surveillance study.

The exercise is primarily an anti-bodies detection test which is globally used to assess the prevalence of infection at the community level.

Meanwhile, the district administration has also requested all the concerned localities and villages to extend full cooperation to the medical team to ensure successful conduct of the survey.
