UKHRUL, NOV 27: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has declared Khangchendzonga National Park as one of the world’s ‘Best Managed Protected Areas’.
The IUCN, regarded as the global benchmark for biodiversity and conservation standards, rated the park as ‘Good’ in its 2025 global review of natural world heritage sites — the only Indian site to receive this grade.
Located in the Eastern Himalayas, the park spans about 1,784 sq km and includes Mount Khangchendzonga, the world’s third-highest peak.
